During the beginning of hip hop. there were more conscious artist out there. Rather then talking about liquors and calling women degrading names. There were artist like the X-Clan, Brand Nubian, De La Soul and or course Public Enemy. Here is one of my favorite songs from these guys with my Throwback Thursday joint of the day "Can't Truss It"
De La Soul and J Dilla have collaborated numerous times before the late producer’s death in 2006 from Lupus. So it’s good to hear the trio spit over a rare Dilla instrumental on their just-released single, 'Vocabulary Spills.'
New hip-hop fans have had to go through extra measures to get to De La Soul's earlier work because they aren't available on iTunes or Spotify due to sample clearance issues. For every person who loves a Soulja Boy or Chief Keef, there are still true hip hop heads who love Public Enemy, Ice Cube and this group here De La Soul. Yes they have returned after a brief hiatus and man am I happy to see them come back. They just dropped a new video for the single "Get Away" and the track is hot like they never left!
