The LCPD and Nixle will send Lake area citizins real time emergency info directly to your cell via text messages and/or email.  These real time emergency notifications will include vital information on events such as hurricane evacuations, shelter in place events, tornado touchdowns, school lock-downs/emergencies and other community emergency situations.

The good part about this is, the news is coming directly from the Lake Charles Police Department, so there will be no delay in getting these urgent messages out to the community.  LCPD will maintain this mass notification system daily and provide real time traffic alerts on accidents or lane closures for you to avoid as well.

Signing up for nixle is an easy process, plus it's FREE!  You can sign up on the web at local.nixle.com or text 888777 and type in lcpd.  From there,you’ll get a confirmation and will be asked for your zip code.  That is it!
