THE HISTORY OF STAGECOACH ROAD - MARSHALL, TX

Stagecoach Road is an old dirt road and served as the main thoroughfare before the Civil War in the mid-1800s. The red-clay and dirt road was heavily traveled by stagecoaches as people traveled between Marshall and Shreveport. According to Commercial Truck Trader, its haunted by a New Orleans Voodoo Priestess that was murdered on the side of the road in the 1800s.

She settled in Marshall after being run out of New Orleans and lived there peacefully selling amulets. The towns priest reportedly grew fearful of her Voodoo and the rise of an occult. One day he sent townsmen out to kill her and they murdered her and ditched her body on the side of Stagecoach Road. Though she's long been buried, her spirit remains and has wandered the road for more than a century. Appearing on nights with a full moon holding voodoo dolls and shrunken heads seemingly casting a spell on the town for betraying her.
