October is a busy month for awareness walks and memorial activities like Breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness, and October Fest, just to name a few. The month of October also represents that fall season is here, and with that comes the many Halloween and Harvest Festival celebrations around SWLA and Southeast Texas.

KPLC has comprised a list of the 2016 Halloween/Harvest Events. See what's going on in our neck of the woods below:

LAKE CHARLES

The City of Lake Charles recommends that trick-or-treat activities on Halloween night (Monday Oct. 31) end at 8pm. Parents are encouraged to have their children home by 8:30pm, unless they are attending a supervised function.

Every Friday & Saturday through Oct. 29 - Tour the USS Orleck's haunted ship and its Carnival of Screams. This haunted attraction at the USS Orleck Naval Museum opens Friday and Saturday at 6pm, and the Hatches open at 7pm. Enjoy Halloween entertainment at the first annual Carnival of Screams. Purchase your tickets today at the

Monday, Oct. 17- Make a witch activity at the Children's Museum, located at 327 Broad Street form 11am-noon.

Wednesday, Oct. 19 - Make a foam jack-o-lantern at the Children's Museum: 11am-noon. This activity is for children ages 3 and up.

Thursday, Oct. 20 - Teens can make Scary Halloween Props starting at 4pm at the Carnegie Memorial Library, located at 411 Pujo Street. Registration is required. Call (337)721-7084 to sign up. Supplies, scares and snacks will be provided.

Tuesday, Oct. 25 - Tweens can tell spooky Campfire Tales of Terror at Carnegie Memorial Library beginning at 4pm. Get into the Halloween spirit with monstrous music, free tricks and treats, and hear or share ghost stories. Registration is required. Call (337) 721-7084 to sign up.

Wednesday, Oct. 26 - Central Library, located at 301 West Claude Street is having a Costume Party at 3:30pm for all to enjoy. Wear your coolest Halloween costume and join in on the monster mash with crafts, games, and food. Plus a surprise guest! For more info, call (337) 721-7116.

Thursday, Oct. 27-  The Gardens/Guardian House, located at 1401 Country Club Road, will have a Trunk or Treat/Fall Fest from 4-6pm. There will be food, games and snow-cones.

Friday, Oct. 28 - Movies Under the Stars will show Hotel Transylvania 2 for your family of ghouls and goblins at the Prien Lake Park. Admission is free, and the movie begins at about 8pm.

Saturday, Oct. 29 - L’Auberge Casino Resort is hosting its legendary 9th Annual Halloween Party & Costume Contest. Doors open at 9 p.m. with live entertainment by Nashville Top 40’s band, Pop Culture (www.popcultureofficial.com ) There'll be a $10,000 Costume Contest too, so whatever you do register from 9 to 10:30 p.m. if you think you can win! Celebrity judges will be in the house and the winner will be announced at 11 p.m. Admission is $10.00 presale or $20.00 at the door. You must be 21 or older and the after party is going down at Jack Daniels with more live music from, Paws teh Cat.

Sunday, Oct. 30 - The University United Methodist Church, located at 3501 Patrick Street, will have their annual Trunk or Treat and Haunted Hayride. The event will take place 5:30-7:30pm, with free snacks and cold drinks.

Monday, Oct. 31- Make a foam jack-o-lantern at the Children's Museum beginning at 11:30am.

Monday, Oct. 31- Annual Lake Charles Civic Center Harvest Festival begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Costumes are not required, but there will be a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for best homemade and best store bought costumes. There will be plenty of games, face painting, balloons and train rides for kids of all ages to enjoy. It all takes place in the Exhibition Hall, admission is free and concessions will be sold. For info, call (337) 491-1280.

Monday, Oct. 31- Foreman Reynaud/107 Jamz Halloween Family Fun Night will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center, located at 215 Albert Street. Costumes are not required, but highly recommended. Admission is free, with plenty of treats and prizes to be given away.

Monday, Oct. 31 - The Queen of The South #14 OES PHA little ghost and goblins to our 7th Annual Trunk or Treat from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 333 V.E. Washington Street, in Lake Charles LA 70601.  Come out and enjoy our fun filled plans for families of all ages!!!  Dress in your best costumes, eat, drink, play, & win prizes!!!!!
We encourage all children to be accompanied by parents or guardians.

Monday, Oct. 31- The Lake Charles Community Band presents SkeleTUNES on the Lake. This is a free concert, and will take place 7pm to 8pm at the Lake Charles Civic Center on the 2nd Floor in Mezzanine.

SULPHUR

The City of Sulphur will observe the Halloween holiday on Monday, Oct. 31. Parents be advised, Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours are between 5-8pm.

Thursday, Oct. 27 - Sulphur Regional Library located at 1160 Cypress St. will have a Halloween-O-Rama beginning at 3:30pm. Kids can make their own treat bag, with Dracula Dentures. Registration is required. Call and sign-up at (337) 721-7141.

Friday, Oct. 28 - Sulphur Regional Library invites little monsters in the area to come see a spooky movie and have lunch, Halloween style. This event will start at 11am, and registration is required. For more info, call (337) 721-7141 to sign up.

WESTLAKE

Open till Monday Oct. 31 - The Westlake Pumpkin Patch, located on Sampson Street across from Westwood Elementary School, will be open from 10am to 5pm. Take a creepy family photo, complete with props and enjoy other fun activities. Proceeds benefit Brennan's Blessings, an affiliate of Colors for a Cause.

MOSS BLUFF

Saturday, Oct. 29 - The Moss Bluff Library, located at 261 Parish Road, will have ghoulish Halloween Bash beginning at pm. Decorate a cookie, enjoy games and plenty of treats. For more info, call (337) 721-7128.

Open till Monday Oct. 31 - The Pumpkin Patch at Moss Bluff United Methodist Church, located at 735 Sam Houston Jones Parkway, is open daily. Just look for the green fence and check out their large variety of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. Sunday Oct. 23, stop by for a special family day from 2:30pm to 5pm, and don't miss the an opportunity to take a couple of photos. Admission is free, and all proceeds benefit various local charities.

IOWA

Monday, Oct. 31 - Come out to the Iowa Library, located at 107 East First Street, for the Halloween Hullabaloo. This event starts at  3:15pm, and area monsters are encouraged to wear costumes. VINTON

Friday, Oct. 21 - Tweens and teens can come out to Fontenot Memorial Library, located at  1402 Center Street, to paint pumpkins at 3:30pm. All supplies will be provided, and kids can decorate pumpkins for Halloween. Registration is required. Please call (337)721-7095 to sign up.

JENNINGS

Saturday, Oct. 29 - New Faith Tabernacle Church, located at 16388 La. 26 70546, will have family friendly Halloween festivities beginning at 4pm. No scary costumes and NO clowns, please. There will be a hayride, face painting, bonfire, fun jumps, games, concessions, candy and more.

LEESVILLE

Now through Oct. 31- If you dare, come out to the Tree Farm Massacre, located at 458 Tree Farm Road. The haunted trail is about 3/4-mile long. If that's too scary, take the paintball trail, which is a mile long. This year's theme is Zombie Paintball Terrorist, "America Strikes Back." DEQUINCY

Friday, Oct. 21 -  The DeQuincy Library, located at 102 W. Harrison St., is having their second annual Old Time Country Fall Fest. This is an event for the entire family, and begins at 2pm. Experience the history of DeQuincy, and learn how to quilt or crochet. Find out how to make soap, make cornmeal or live on the wild side of beekeeping and more. DRY CREEK

ORANGE, TEXAS

Now til Nov. 5 - Don't miss the largest Scarecrow Festival in Texas, at Shangri La Gardens. See amazing hand-crafted scarecrows displayed throughout the gardens, created by various community organizations, businesses, schools, churches, and area families.
