This weekend strap on your walking/jogging shoes and participate in the annual 2016 SWLA Heart Walk, benefiting the American Heart Association.  It all takes place at the Lake Charles Civic Center on Saturday November 12, 2016, with an   8 a.m. registration, a brief ceremony at 8:30 a.m., with the 3-mile walk/run getting underway at 9 a.m.  Word has it more than 2,000 residents came out last year, and this year their looking to double that number!  Matter of fact the goal is to raise $170,000 for continued research, resources and awareness initiatives.  So bring your family, co-workers, friends or members from your social groups and churches and join the celebration.

2016 SWLA Heart Walk is a great cause and an event to empower people with knowledge on how to stay healthy.  The American Heart Association's mission is to save lives by promoting the benefits of having an active lifestyle.  It just so happens brisk walking is a great way to keep our hearts happy and free from disease.  So join in the festivities tomorrow and help raise funds to fight heart disease and stroke in our community.

There will be free health screenings, gets hands-on CPR training, learn the warning signs of a heart attack or stroke and more.
