210 Bridge To Undergo More Repairs
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but traffic is about to get even worse in the Greater Lake Charles area with upcoming repairs to the I-210 bridge.
Traffic is already bad between plant/refinery workers traveling to and from work and the I-10 road construction that spans from Lake Charles to the Texas state line. Now, repairs are set to begin the first part of next year to fix hurricane damage.
The bridge had major structural, pavement, and light repairs in 2019. However, the lighting sustained massive damage thanks to the hurricane forces winds brought in by Hurricanes Laura and Delta last year. The price tag is going to cost more than a $1 million to fix the damage caused by the 2020 storms.
A spokesperson for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development told KPLC the new lighting system will be even stronger than those mangled by Laura and Delta.
The I-210 bridge repairs are scheduled to begin the first part of 2021 and will wrap up around June 2022.
