Today in Tha Wire R&B singing sensation August Alsina, revealed on his Instagram page yesterday, that he's been battling liver disease for a while now.  He recently sat down with Jada Pinkett-Smith for what he says, was a healing conversation.  The 24 year-old has been open about not getting over the loss of his brother, and how the pain from that loss has affected his life. In past interviews he's also mentioned that he deals with health issues, but never disclosed to what extent... till now.  The truth is, the New Orleans bred singer is very sick.

About 3 years ago, he passed out during a performance and literally fell off the stage.  At the time August was 22-years old, and performing at Irving Plaza, in Manhattan.   Stunned fans watched helplessly as the young singer went limp, collapsed and fell off the stage. He was carried out on a stretcher by paramedics and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he fell into a coma for three days.

Sadly since that September 2014 incident, August's health hasn't really gotten much better.  Below in a snippet from his interview with Jada, the singer tells the actress that even his eyesight is deteriorating.  He said, "I have a liver disease. My autoimmune system is fighting itself. The reality is that I’m sick all the time...I don’t really like to talk about it because I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy.”  August admitted that talking about his situation was healing and said he hoped that opening up about what he's going through will help others.

No doubt it took a lot of courage for him to talk about something so personal, but as they say confession is good for the soul.  When we can open up about painful experiences, we're ultimately setting ourselves free of the devastating effect it's had our lives.  Which is pretty much why the singer said, talking about everything he's been through, was healing. August said he doesn't want pity, he just wanted his fans to know what's up, and to ride wit him.

Will do!  We wish you the blessings of better health and the very in life.

Keep pushing August!
