Today in Tha Wire Rap icon, Shawn Jay Z Carter, holds so many titles, there's only one word that describes an artist/entrepreneur/humanitarian and music mogul like him...G.O.A.T.(Greatest of All Time) Above all of his accomplishments there is no denying the contribution Jay Z has made to music. He's simply one of the best selling artists of all time, the recipient of 21 Grammy's and counting, sold more than 100 million albums, 13 #1 solo LP's, not only writing 90% of his own songs, but countless hits for other music superstars. We don't have time to go over his extensive list of musical achievements, but somebody's been keeping count.
This Thursday Jigga Man achieved what most artists spend a lifetime trying to do, being inducted the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This is an honor bestowed on those artists whose music represents, and maintains relevant among the world's popular music. Jay Z also became the first rapper to be inducted into this prestigious hall of fame. His company TIDAL reportedly lined-up a list of well-wishes from music's biggest names from Bono, to Pharrell congratulating Hov on his big night.
The induction ceremony went down in New York at the Marriott and the rap legend's mother, grandmother, and sisters were all in the house. According to reports Hov's longtime friend and business partner, music publisher, Jon Platt, accepted the award on his behalf. The man Jay Z calls "the greatest rapper of all time," POTUS, #44 Barack Obama sent the following video to congratulate his friend...
Gotta love him! God knows we miss you Obama. On the eve of Father's Day, Hov has a little something extra to celebrate this weekend. As it turns out the music icon had a good reason for being M.I.A. at the ceremony. Word has it, Beyonce had or is having their twins! Like a good dad, he ain't trying to miss that. Besides, I'm sure Bey would've "SLAYED" him if he did.
We will have more on that "new" chapter in the happy couples lives later. Meanwhile we'd like to join the rest of the world in saying congrats, with all the best wishes and God's blessings to ALL the Carter's.
