Best Songs of the Week Featuring Shy Glizzy, Nipsey Hussle and More
While the year may be coming to a close, that doesn't mean the hip-hop releases stop. This week saw a number of bangers from rappers such as Shy Glizzy, Z-Ro and Nipsey Hussle, as well as a few dope collaborations from Dom Kennedy and Hit-Boy, Roy Woods, 24hrs; and Tee Grizzley and Lil Durk.
After announcing No Love Boulevard would be his final album, Houston veteran Z-Ro makes his return to hip-hop with his latest project, Codeine. Although the Houston MC may have wanted to retire from rap, the song "Never Been a Ho" shows Z-Ro still hasn't lost a step.
Earlier this week, California rappers Dom Kennedy and Hit-Boy linked up to drop their joint album, Courtesy of Half-a-Mil. While the whole project is worth a listen, "Fix Me a Plate" definitely deserves a download.
The week also saw singer Roy Woods link up with 24hrs for the dancehall-inspired track "Take Time" on Woods' long-awaited debut album, Say Less. If hard-hitting bars are more your thing, Tee Grizzley and Lil Durk dropped their latest collab, "What Yo City Like?," ahead of the release of their joint mixtape, Bloodas. The song finds the rappers going back and forth as they detail their respective cities.
Also preparing for a new project, Nipsey Hussle came for rappers on his latest track, "Rap Niggas." On the song, he spits, "Traveled ’round the world, then I came back, nigga/Worth a couple a million, that's a fact, nigga/But I am nothing like you fucking rap niggas/I own all the rights to all my raps, nigga."
Shy Glizzy also teamed up with Trey Songz and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie for some "Dope Boy Magic" on his new song. The track features Songz handling the chorus, while Glizzy and A Boogie take over the verses.
