Big Changes Coming To Downtown Lake Charles – New Development To Former Capital One Tower Site
The City of Lake Charles and Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter made a big announcement on Friday, December 6, 2024, during a press conference about the new development coming to the Lakefront and former Capital One Tower site. Mayor Hunter said that after decades of meeting and planning, he was pleased to announce that the plans and the layout were finalized.
The City of Lake Charles was amid a purchase agreement with the owners of the former Capital One Tower site. It will soon start constructing a new Lakefront amphitheater project(LC REBOUND bond proposal)featuring sleek architectural style and modern architectural design for live music entertainment, festivals, and more with a capacity of 3,500.
In addition, the City of Lake Charles entered into a cooperative endeavor agreement with RENEW Lake Charles, LLC, for the construction of the project which will also include a 154-room Hilton Garden hotel with a second-story pool, and conference center complete with a full-service restaurant and lounge.
KPLC TV reports the Mayor stated at the conference Friday morning,
“The new combined conference space and hotel will be able to host a diverse array of events in a contemporary venue that will accommodate commerce, meetings, and banquets here in Lake Charles. No longer will groups have to travel to Lafayette or Beaumont for their events. We can host them right here in Lake Charles and bring activity back to our downtown lakefront.”
