Today in Tha Wire Big Sean celebrates his 31st birthday today (March 25, 2019) and in doing so he revealed something I'm sure most of his 10.7 million followers on Instagram never knew. AllHipHop reports, the Detroit MC opened up about his struggles with mental health. Which believe it or not is more common than not, especially in African American youth who are exposed to violence. Studies show African Americans are 20% more likely to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD,) than any other groups because of unmet needs and other barriers according to The Office of Minority Health. It's been almost 2-years since the Detroit rap star dropped his last album, I Decided. He says music went from giving him to joy to becoming a burden. He gave himself a break and is now back in the studio doing his best music ever. Below Sean explains in his own words how long he's been dealing with anxiety and depression:

We are so proud of you! Your truth will help others and confirm that our mental health is not only important, but that there's nothing wrong with seeking help. The G.O.O.D. rapper said he needed clarity and hired a therapists. It's a beautiful thing, because he addressed a problem he knew he had. Happy birthday Sean, and congratulations on rediscovering yourself and finding new inspiration to make music!

In other news, R. Kelly may have some issues getting his passport if it turns out he was lying about doing shows in Dubai. As previously reported, Kells and his legal team appeared in court Friday to file two motions:

1.) For the return of his passport to enable him to perform overseas. TMZ reports the singers lawyer Steven A. Greenberg asked the judge to delay his trial and allow his to make some money to pay his legal fees, child support and other bills. Greenberg claimed the trial was hurting his clients opportunity to perform in the U.S. and they had shows scheduled in Dubai April 17-April 19.

2.) R. Kelly's legal teams needs to have copies of the prosecutions sex tapes so that they can build their defense. Michael Avenatti turned over 2 tapes to Cook County prosecutors.

Variety reports Sunday, the Dubai Media Office announced “has not been invited by the Dubai royal family for a performance.” Dubai government was responding to Greensberg allegedly implying that the Pied Piper was supposed to meet with the emirates’ Al Maktoum royal family.

Kelly’s lawyer clapped back via e-mail, “Mr. Kelly had a signed contract with a legitimate promoter, and any information that was included in the motion to travel was from that contract. We did not say he was invited by the royal family, but the contract did provide that he would make himself available to meet with them.”

We'll see what happens as a judge is to rule on this matter in another week.
