Blac Youngsta is currently fighting for his freedom. Back in May, the rapper turned himself in to authorities in Charlotte, N.C., after being linked to the shooting of his rival and fellow Memphis rapper Young Dolph.

While the budding rhymer was in New York City, Blac Youngsta briefly spoke to XXL about the allegations against him.

"I'm going to get to the bottom of a lot of this shit once I beat this [case]," Youngsta explains when asked about the police issuing a warrant for him because of lyrics Young Dolph included on his Bulletproof project. "People talk and try to put shit together and make shit up, but at the end of the day I know for a fact that everybody is going to be looking crazy as hell when this shit is all over with."

Youngsta, who prides himself on his honesty, also touches on his initial disagreement with his CMB boss, Yo Gotti, regarding the approach towards Dolph.

"It wasn't about how [Gotti] handled it," he says. "I'm a nigga like if you say something about me, I'm going to say something back about you. I just had to understand from big homie...that man rich. A lot of these niggas out here playing rich. I done seen this shit with my own eyes. Can't nobody tell me about dude. So the thing is, I just had to realize how he sees shit and how he looks at shit."

If you forgot, Dolph was shot at 100 times while he was inside a bulletproof black SUV in Charlotte, N.C. in February. A few months later, Youngsta, born Sammie Marquez Benson, became a person of interest in the case and turned himself in to the police. He was later charged with six counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property and one count of felony conspiracy. He was released on bail soon after.

Details regarding the shooting came to light, including that the van used during the Dolph shooting was rented under Blac Youngsta's name. However, Youngsta’s attorney said that the van was stolen after his client rented it.

At the time of Blac Youngsta's initial arrest connected to the shooting, a rep for the rapper provided XXL with this statement: “Memphis-based rap artist Blac Youngsta has turned himself in on charges filed in Charlotte, N.C. The warrants served were based on lyrics from rapper Young Dolph’s Bulletproof mixtape. Youngsta will await arraignment while he maintains innocence and no involvement with the incident.”

Back in March, XXL went down to Atlanta to speak with Dolph about life after the shooting and what went down in Charlotte. When asked who he thought targeted him, Dolph kept it real. “I got no clue," he admitted. "I really don’t even give a damn. Like, to tell you the honest truth. I really don’t give a damn.”

The "Birthday" spitta, following his release from jail, dropped a mixtape titled I’m Innocenta 10-song project featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi and OneInThe4Rest with production from TM88, Yung Lan, Cujo Beats and others.
