Body Pulled From Jennings Canal Identified

JENNINGS, La. (AP) — Authorities have released the identity of the man whose body was found floating in a canal Wednesday near Jennings.

Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner Dr. C.J. Deese tells KLFY-TV the victim is 40-year-old Dedrick Gant of Jennings.

The sheriff's office is investigating the case a homicide.

A farmer spotted Gant's body floating in the West Bayou Grand Marais canal around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday. The canal is located between I-10 and Aaron Road just north of Jennings.
