Calcasieu Parish School Board officials announced it took longer than expected to announce a decision on resuming classes after Louisiana faced unprecedented winter storm conditions and heavy snowfall, with some Parishes receiving up to 10 inches. CPSB announced a decision would be made Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 4:30 pm.

Thursday afternoon the school board released prerecorded announcements alerting parents and guardians that it would take a couple of hours for officials to complete inspections of utilities and plumbing at schools in the district.

CPSB thanked everyone for their patience and at 6.07 pm all schools and facilities in the district will resume classes on Friday, January 24, 2025. Meanwhile, several across the state are going to remain closed and resume classes on Monday, January 27, 2025.
