Def Jam Celebrates 30 Years – Tha Wire [VIDEO]

Today in Tha Wire Def Jam celebrated 30-years and Syleena Johnson is gearing up to drop a new album and appear in a new reality show

BET reports Def Jam is gearing up to celebrate 30-years of music by pulling together all of the labels previous and currant artist for one big concert at the Brooklyn Barclays Center October 16th.

Three decades ago Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons founded Def Jam in their college dorm at New York University in 1984 and LL Cool J was their first artist.  Since then, Def Jam has single handedly made the biggest impact on Hip Hop, with groundbreaking artists like Public Enemy, and The Beastie Boys.  The label made another major impact on genre with game changers like Kanye West, Jay Z, and Jeezy.

To commemorate the 30-year anniversary artists like 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Foxy Brown, Onyx, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Method Man, Redman, EPMD, Warren G and more are billed to grace  the stage. Def Jam Ceo Steve Bartels, said of the monumental celebration, "It’s very exciting to be able to be part of such a special announcement that solidifies and continues forward the enduring mark the brand has made on pop culture.”

In other news, R&B Diva Syleena Johnson is coming back to TV, but not just for another episode of R&B Divas Atlanta.  The soulful sister and her husband Kiwane Garris are heading to the new season of WE tv’s ‘Marriage Boot Camp.’

TheBoomBox reports two will join four other celeb couples and undergo a long two-week boot camp, to decide if their marriage is worth saving or divorce is the best option.  Syleena and Kiwane have two sons and apparently, things aren't going to go between her and her husband.  Learn more below inside Tha Wire and find out when the new season of ‘Marriage Boot Camp' will debut.
