UPDATE: The information obtained from the Visit Lake Charles website contained incorrect information regarding the location of the performance. The Children's Theatre Company of Lake Charles is not producing a live performance of 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid'. You can always enjoy the original series on Disney+.

My daughter went to T.S. Cooley Elementary and if there was one book that all the kids wanted to read, were reading, or had already read...it was Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney! The series is all about a kid, Greg Heffley, who chronicles his wacky, drama-filled existence in his diary every day as he goes through life's ups and downs with family and friends, all while trying to survive middle school and the cheese touch.

Without question, every child, including my daughter had read the entire series before they left Cooley, well at least up to book #14. All the kids loved it! The newest book in the series is #16 "Big Shot." And yes, my daughter and her buddies have already read it at least one time! The best part about this book series is they are Schoolatic approved and are worth 3.0 AR points. So, it's a win, win parents! They encourage reading, school-approved, and kids can rake up AR points to possibly win a reading trophy at the end of the year.

In case you were unaware, the original movie is now streaming on Disney+!
