2017 Essence Music Festival came to a close Sunday July 2. Among the 100 artists on the line-up were heavy hitters like
Mary J. Blige,
 John Legend,
Chaka Khan,
Chance The Rapper, and
Diana Ross. The 4-day party with a purpose featured 100 speakers, to include NOLA Mayor
Mitch Landrieu and Louisiana Governor
John Bel Edwards. Essence event organizers were happy to
announce the 2017 stats Monday. One things for sure, it was another successful year! At least in the way of attendance and dollars. Fest organizers said the annual event enjoyed 420,000 attendees, and reached a record-breaking four billion impressions on social media worldwide.

However, not all the attendees were happy with the star-studded event.  For the first time since 1994, Essence attendees are voicing major complaints about not being able to see artists, they paid to see. The festival has been blasted on social media for the last few days, after hundreds of concert goers didn't get to see Xscape perform. The famous R&B girl group reunited in February, and announced they'd perform their first full show in 15-years at Essence. So this was a highly anticipated concert. Obviously event organizers underestimated how many people wanted the see their comeback performance. Below is a look at those who didn't get a chance to see the show.

Fans are furious about this epic oversight, and letting Essence know it too! Concert goers took to Twitter dropping the following posts:

Some demanded refunds. "@Essence I want a refund. People only came today for #xscape ... yall f**kin tried it (sic)." Even worse, some of the concertgoers got into altercations. It was a hot mess. TV 3 reports Essence reps haven't uttered a word about the angry uproar.  For what it's worth the ladies really felt bad that this happened to their fans. https://youtu.be/IuZHfMVnjao FYI, please know the ladies showed-out at Essence though.  They put on a hell of a performance. For all you who didn't get to see the show, below is a look at how the ladies put it down. Enjoy!

I don't know why Essence would put a group like this on the 3rd floor of the Dome, in one of the smaller lounges either.  Xscape may have only recorded four albums, but three went platinum. Oh well. I Can't wait to see the ladies out on their own tour. Word has it, a new album and road trip is in the works. I'll keep you posted!
