If you have ever dreamed of owning your own home. Stop dreaming and start believing. The Louisiana Housing Corporation in conjunction with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is cordially inviting all first-time homebuyers to attend the "Building Tomorrow Together" Homeownership Fair.

The event takes place Saturday, June 24 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Allen P. August Multipurpose Annex at 2000 Moeling Street in Lake Charles. This is a real opportunity for you to purchase your first home. Local agencies, including mortgage lenders, insurance agents, and realtors, will be on hand on hand to answer any questions.

The Louisiana Housing Corporation will do a presentation on the Resilience Soft Second Loan Program and explain the process whole process. This program offers to cover the affordability gap for first-time homebuyers between the maximum amount that homebuyers can afford and the purchase prices of the homes. Residents in Calcasieu Parish with an annual household income that is at or, below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) are as follows:

One-person household income at or below - $42,850
Two-person Household income at or below - $49,000
Three-person household income at or below - $55,100
Four-person household income at or below - $61,200
Five-person household income at or below - $66,100
Six-person household income at or below - $71,000

The Resilience Soft Second Loan Program is a second loan that covers 20% of as much closing costs up to $5,000 and a purchase price – of up to $55,000. Even better if the homebuyer lives in the home for 10 years, the soft second loan will be forgiven.

Calcasieu Parish Police Juror Maxcine Fontenot with the Housing Counseling Agency said of the program. “Potential homebuyers should attend to help them make informed decisions with the homebuying process.”
