Today in Tha Wire BET Presents: 2017 Soul Train Awards and for the 3rd year in a row, neyo-soul songstress Erykah Badu returns as host. The awards show pays tribute to the iconic dance show, created by the legendary Don Cornelius. For 35-years straight Soul Train, was where R&B fans could see the latest fashions, dance moves, and artists all in one place. Today the tradition of the history making TV show lives on, through the annual awards event celebrating Urban music and it's artists. Filming for this year's star studded event with go down on November 5th, in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena.

As with years past BET is the network host of the Soul Train Awards. The show will  also simulcast on their new channel, BET HER! Formally called Centric, the channel has been revamped, refined, and designed with the Black woman in mind. Peep the ad below for more details.

According to BET the 2017 Soul Train Awards airs on Nov. 26 at 7p.m. CT. This year's honorees include Toni Braxton, who'll receive the Don Cornelius Legend Award. SWV is finally getting some props as well. and be presented with the Lady of Soul Award. Even better is the fact that Toni and SWV will also take to the stage to perform. The diva's will be joining an A-list group of performers like Tamar Braxton, Kirk Franklin, 112, Tank and more. Plus the competition is fierce among the men up for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist. The nominees include Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Khalid, and The Weeknd. It's just as steep for ladies and for the Best R&B/Soul Female Artist. The noms for that category include Kehlani, Laylah Hathaway, SZA, Mary J. Blige, Ledisi and Solange.

By the way, TheBoomBox reports that some of the newer artists are getting some love too. Solange is leading the pack this year with seven nods and Khalid copped four nods, including for the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. On the Hip Hop side of things, Kendrick Lamar, French Montana and Cardi B will all compete for the Rhythm & Bars Award.
