Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered anyone from Louisiana be quarantined for two weeks upon arriving in the state. While the order is to self-quarantine, failure to do so could result in a misdemeanor conviction and 60-day jail sentence. Florida has placed similar restrictions on arrivals from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

DeSantis said he included Louisiana after officials in the panhandle began to worry that people head to Florida while fleeing from New Orleans.

Florida Highway Patrol and sheriff's deputies will place checkpoints along roadways to screen cars arriving from Louisiana.
