Free Turkeys for Veterans: 3rd Annual Giveaway Event in Southwest Louisiana
This Saturday, November 16, 2024, Once Was Inc. is giving back to the Veterans in Calcasieu Parish just in time for the holidays. In honor of our Veterans and their families, the non-profit Veterans Community Outreach group is hosting its: Service Saturdays - 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution event.
This Saturday, November 16, 2024, Once Was Inc. is giving back to the Veterans in Calcasieu Parish just in time for the holidays. In honor of our Veterans and their families, the non-profit Veterans Community Outreach group is hosting its: Service Saturdays - 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution event.
PLEASE NOTE: Holiday turkeys are for Veterans only. A military ID is required.
In appreciation for your service, Veterans can stop by and pick up a frozen Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey at the Louisiana State Police - Troop D station in Lake Charles at 805 Main St. The holiday turkeys are our way of saving thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for America. Turkeys will be given away to Veterans between 11 am and 1 pm.
Once Was Inc. is a nonprofit, Veterans Community Outreach, founded in 2018 by retired Petty Officer Michael Edmond, also known as “DJ N.V. Navy Vet” and his wife Racquel Edmond, the couple’s mission is to provide a support system for Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana service men, women, and their families.
For decades, the Edmonds have helped Veterans navigate their military benefits or connect to services, and resources that are eligible for. The Edmonds host at least three to four community service events in harper year advocates for thousands of Armed Forces members. Their hard work is well noted. This year, Once Was Inc. made the Top Three finalists for the Better Business Bureau's Good Neighbor Award.
