Happy Birthday, French Montana!
Happy Birthday to French Montana! The Bronx native hustled his way into his current prominence and he turns 33 years old today (Nov. 9).
French Montana came up in the impoverished South Bronx and had to make his name through the underground circuit. Cocaine City, inspired by the Smack DVD series, showcased his skills along with other street rhymers' talents. He benefitted from a miracle, too, on his way to the top; he survived a gunshot to the head during what he later found out was a set-up.
After beefing with Jim Jones and following a short partnership with the incarcerated Max B, French finally blew up with the brassy "Shot Caller." The affiliation with Bad Boy Records and Maybach Music Group arrived soon, and in 2012, French got his first undeniable hit with the 2 Live Crew-sampling "Pop That," which featured Lil Wayne along with Drake and Rick Ross at the top of their game.
More recently, Montana dropped his hit album Jungle Rules earlier this year. The 18-track project is lead by the monster hit single with Swae Lee, "Unforgettable," which became French's highest charting single of all-time earlier this week, landing at the No. 10 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The summer anthem subsequently went platinum.
