The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is gearing up for another session of their hunter safety course to get you ready for the upcoming seasons.

Duck, geese, deer, dove and squirrel seasons are all coming up this fall, which is why this summer is a perfect time to get signed up for the CPSO hunter safety course in July.

The course is a two-day event starting on Thursday, July 15 and running through Friday, July 16.

From 9:00am to 3:00pm on Thursday, July 15, the course will be at the American Legion Post 1, located at 1530 9th Street in Lake Charles.  

Then on Friday, July 16, the course will continue at the American Legion Post 1 from 9:00am to 11:00am then students will get a break for lunch. 

After your lunch break, you will head over to the Calcasieu Parish Regional Training Academy located at 3958 Mallard Cove in Lake Charles. You will finish up the class there from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.  

If you would like to get into the class, there is some important information you will need to know. You must attend both days in order to receive credit for the course. Lunch will be provided by Sheriff Mancuso on Thursday.

The course free of charge to anyone 10 years of age or older.
