Iggy Azalea Accused of Ripping Off Cardi B, Producer J. White Did It Speaks Out
Iggy Azalea is riding high on the early success of her new single "Sally Walker," as the track debuted at No. 4 on the US iTunes chart upon its release on Friday (March 15)—the first time she's cracked the top five since 2014. Some fans find the track all too similar to Cardi B's "Money," however, but J. White Did It—who produced both tracks—wants to kill the comparisons.
On Sunday (March 17), a fan tweeted, "Iggy Azalea really went in studio and said to producers, 'You heard that Cardi record Money yea make me one too,'" and the comment came across J. White's timeline. J. White was quick to retweet the post and add, "Actually that's false."
In response to White's retweet, another fan replied with, "What if Iggy actually DIDN'T bite Cardi B's last single? Could it possibly be the SAME PRODUCER behind both of the records with an incredible, CHART TOPPING sound? *GAASSSP!*" J. White was sure to RT that one as well and add, "Right!!"
J. White has a great relationship with both Iggy and Cardi, having produced multiple tracks for both women over the years, including Cardi's breakout 2017 hit, "Bodak Yellow." And while both ladies have had their share of beefs with fellow female rappers, there has never been an issue between the two. In fact, Iggy was among a handful of rappers who publicly congratulated Cardi following her historic win for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
"woah @iamcardib won! Super happy to see a female rapper win a Grammy, you dominated 2018 girl & @JWhiteDidIT congratulations to you too!" Iggy wrote on Twitter at the time.
