A Former McNeese Cowboy Will Receive A World Series Ring No Matter Who Wins…
The World Series is set between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, and no matter the outcome of the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series, one former McNeese Cowboy will receive a World Series ring.
The two former Cowboys are Jace Peterson and Grant Anderson.
Anderson, who played for the Cowboys from 2016-2018, was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 21st round of the 2018 draft. During the 2023 season at the top minor league level, Anderson has pitched 21 1/3 innings over 11 appearances for the Round Rock Express, posting a 3.80 ERA in the process. Anderson got the call-up to the big leagues on May 29th. Anderson pitched in 26 games for the Rangers going 2-1 with 35 innings pitched and 30 strikeouts.
Jace Peterson, who had played for the Athletics, Brewers, Orioles, Yankees, Braves, and Padres since getting drafted back in 2011 with the 58th overall pick in the supplemental first round of the Major League Draft. Peterson was traded at the Trade Deadline this summer to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Peterson, a Lake Charles native, is on the active playoff roster for the D-Backs.
Being that both of them have played for the team at some point this season, one of the Cowboys will be getting a World Series ring if their team wins.
The World Series is slated to begin on Friday with Game 1 between the Rangers and Diamondbacks taking place on Friday.
