It's Summertime in Southwest Louisiana and most folks are looking for something to do. Most of us get tired of sitting at the house and are always up for doing something fun! Parents are feeling this struggle right now because the kiddos are out for the Summer and you are definitely wanting to get the kids out of the house and get your sanity back.

Such is the case for seniors too. We and I can say we because I am getting to that 50-plus age, get tired of just being home and want to get out and do some fun stuff too. Well, you're in luck. If you love the outdoors and love to fish then get ready for a great event coming up this Friday in Lake Charles.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is hosting its annual Senior Citizen’s Fishing Rodeo this Friday morning in Lake Charles from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. Our good friend Kayla Vincent with the Sheriff's Office said the fishing rodeo will take place at the CPSO Farm Pond behind the Calcasieu Correctional Center at 5400 E. Broad Street in Lake Charles.

She went on to say,

Participants are asked to bring their own chairs and fishing gear (only one pole per person, please).  The CPSO will provide help in baiting the lines, removing fish from the hook if requested, and bait for catching fish. Refreshments will be furnished.

So if you are 55 years old or older or if you know someone that age that would love to get out and do some fishing, then make plans to be at the Senior Citizen’s Fishing Rodeo this Friday morning.
