December 18th is Answer the Telephone Like the Elf From the Movie “Elf” Day, and yep, it’s a real thing. NationalCalendar.com says this fun little holiday is all about spreading joy, laughs, and a little Christmas chaos just by how you say hello.

We all know the movie, “Elf.” with main character played by Will Ferrell, as he plays Buddy the Elf. Well apparently it has a Cult following that now we get a whole day to Celebrate.

So how should you celebrate it? Easy. When your phone rings today, answer it with a big smile and say,

“(Your name) the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”

That’s it. No skills required. Just commit to it.

Now fair warning. You might confuse a few people.  And let’s be honest, we could all use more of that right now.

They say when you answer the phone like an elf, it doesn’t just brighten the caller’s day. It lifts yours too. Try it, it might work or they might just hang up.

Should you dress the part?. Throw on a Santa hat. Rock an ugly Christmas sweater. Break out those holiday socks.

And don’t be shocked if you call someone and they answer the same way. That just means the joy is spreading.

So on December 18th, answer that phone different. Be loud. Be cheerful. Be a little silly. Christmas doesn’t have to be serious.
