Top Furniture Chain Announces Expansion Plans, 3 Texas Stores Coming Soon
KNGT-FM - One of the most well-known furniture stores in the world is growing again, and Texas is getting a big piece of the action.
When I was a kid, I used to LOVE going to furniture stores; my aunt actually managed one, and I loved going there. I’d run around checking out all the fancy new couches like I was picking out one for my dream house. Of course, I always found “the one," some huge, comfy couch I could sink into. In reality, there was no shot that it was the one my parents were actually going to pick.
IKEA, the popular Swedish furniture company, is opening more stores across the U.S., including three big ones in the Lone Star State. Texas is quickly becoming an IKEA hotspot. Right now, the state has five full-sized IKEA stores and three Plan & Order points with Pick-up.
So far in 2025, IKEA has already opened five new stores in the U.S. But they’re not done yet. The company says six more stores will open before the year ends. And that’s not all, it already looks like there are at least two more in the works for 2026, and they might be here in Texas.
Right now, IKEA has 51 large stores across the country, plus 10 smaller locations called “Plan and Order points.” These spots are different from the usual huge IKEA buildings. At a Plan and Order point, you can talk with a worker to help plan things like your kitchen, bathroom, or closet. Many of these locations also let you pick up your order nearby, making it easier for shoppers.
Here’s where the new stores are opening in 2025:
Full-Size IKEA Stores:
- San Marcos, Texas (July)
- McAllen, Texas (October)
- Dallas, Texas (December)
Plan and Order Points (with pick-up):
- Cherry Hill, New Jersey (June)
- Beaverton, Oregon (June)
- Hunt Valley, Maryland (July)
Looking ahead to 2026, IKEA already plans to open even more full-size stores in:
- Rockwall, Texas
- Phoenix, Arizona
