Kenny Wayne Shepherd Live In Lake Charles This Friday

Since his first album, Ledbetter Heights, released in 1995, this Grammy-nominated bandleader continues to embody the future of blues music. If you expect routine twelve-bar blues from his latest album, Dirt On My Diamonds, you'll be surprised by a series of unexpected elements. Tracks like Sweet & Low and Best Of Times blend modern urban influences with socio-political commentary, enhanced by the dynamic production of Shepherd and his collaborator Marshall Altman. Shepherd reflects on their partnership, noting, "Working with Marshall is like any productive relationship; we combine our strengths and inspire each other."

Since his birth in North Louisiana in 1977, Shepherd's life has defied convention. Introduced to classic blues and rock 'n' roll at a young age by his father—a well-regarded Louisiana radio personality and promoter—Shepherd gravitated toward his first Fender Stratocaster. Without formal lessons, he discovered an innate ability to make the guitar cry and wail. Well before Giant Records, a subsidiary of Warner Brothers, offered him a deal, Shepherd had already logged countless miles on a relentless touring circuit.

The 2024 Tour makes a stop this Friday July 12th at 8:30pm, at The Golden Nugget Lake Charles.
