Lake Charles Police To Host Community National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to get police and neighbors together under favorable circumstances.

On Tuesday, August 1, from 6 – 9 p.m., the Lake Charles Police Department and the City of Lake Charles will host a free National Night Out Community Event at the Lake Charles Civic Center (900 Lakes

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Officers from the Department, and view demonstrations from the various divisions, including SWAT, K-9, Traffic Motorcycles, and more. Free resources and information from a variety of vendors will also be available.

National Night Out will also feature a jambalaya and pastalaya cook-off, activities for children, giveaways, and more.

“Our National Night Out Community Event provides citizens with the opportunity to meet and interact with Officers from our many divisions in one location while gathering important information about various resources available to them,” said Lake Charles Police Chief Shawn Caldwell.

Communities nationwide host National Night Out events on the first Tuesday of August every year with the goal of enhancing the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement by bringing residents and police officers together under positive circumstances.
