Local SWLA Band Directors To Participate In Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thanksgiving Day is just a few short days away. For most families, Thanksgiving Day begins by sitting around the TV to watch the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade before eating Thanksgiving lunch. Well this year, you may notice some familiar faces in the parade.

The Saluting America's Band Directors (SABD) project was to create a unique marching band of band directors comprising band directors and music educators from across North America. The band was recruited through advertising, social media, word of mouth, and endorsements from well-known leaders in the profession. Renowned band director Jon Waters joined this effort to lead the Band Directors Marching Band.

The Saluting America's Band Directors™ project is pleased to announce that the Band Directors Marching Band™ has been invited to perform in the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade® in New York City on November 23, 2023! We have accepted the invitation and are honored and excited to have been asked. We have put together another memorable trip for our band! We now have 408 directors confirmed to march in the Band Directors Marching Band's Macy's appearance!

Well, it looks like a pair of local Southwest Louisiana band directors will be headed to The Big Apple for the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Be on the lookout for Mr. Theall & Mr. Mac as they March in the Macy’s Day Parade with a group called “Saluting America’s Band Directors!” They’ll both be on mellophone toward the middle of their band. They will most likely be in suits & their band follows the Snoopy Balloon! Good Luck!!!
