Today is the ideal time to thoroughly clean your home and open the windows. Look for those items that haven't been touched in a long time.

I adore organizing my belongings and giving away items I don't need. It's liberating in a way to get rid of "junk," because as they say, what's rubbish for one person is treasure for another.

It's important to understand that not everything is accepted at your local Goodwill before packing your car with donations.

Thousands of new or gently used things that are in good condition, clean, safe, and fit for resale are gladly accepted by Goodwill stores. Anything can be donated, including games, small appliances, and clothing.

I certainly contribute to that, and I also thrift a great deal of time. It's among my favorite pastimes.

Certain goods may not be accepted by Goodwill if there is a risk to the law, a safety issue, or the item may be hazardous trash. If you try to donate something that isn't clean or in good condition, they can also say no.
