McNeese LB Micah Davey Named To Midseason All-American Team
LAKE CHARLES, LA – McNeese redshirt sophomore linebacker Micah Davey has been named to the 2023 FCS Mid-Season All-American Team by Phil Steele, earning fourth team honors.
A Baton Rouge native, Davey has put up eye-popping numbers in the tackling department through the first six games of the season, leading the Cowboys and Southland Conference while ranking No. 2 in the FCS with 82 total tackles.
In addition, he tops the league and is second in the nation with 13.7 tackles per game and is No. 1 in the conference and third in the FCS with 7.3 solo tackles per contest.
Davey has recorded 10 or more tackles in all six games on the season with a high of 18 stops against Alcorn State back on September 16, matching a career-high that was set in last year’s season finale against Lamar.
He’s recorded double-digit tackles in nine of 17 career games played and has accumulated 150 tackles during that time.
Davey is one of five players representing the Southland Conference on the team. UIW had two players earn first team honors, defensive end Steven Parker and wide receiver Brandon Porter, Southeastern tight end Bauer Sharp earned second team honors while HCU linebacker Jalyx Hunt was named to the third team.
McNeese will host No. 5-ranked UIW on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Cowboy Stadium.
