The Breakers finished the inaugural season of the USFL reboot last year with a 6-4 overall record. This year they finish with a 7-3 record and face a familiar foe in the best team in the USFL for the second year in a row.

New Orleans will face the Birmingham Stallions in the first round of the playoffs. The Stallions are the best team in the league with a 8-2 overall record. Their head coach is the former long-time head coach at Louisiana Tech, Skip Holtz. It's no surprise the Stallions are good, coaching football runs deep in his blood, and it's the family business. Skip's dad is the Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz.

The Breakers ended the regular season on a high note with a win against the Houston Gamblers by the score of 17-10. They'll need to start the game off fast as they'll be heavy underdogs going into the game with the Stallions high scoring offense.

The Breakers' starting quarterback, McLeod Bethel-Thompson, is a veteran signal-caller with past playing experiences in the NFL and Canadian Football League. Bethel-Thompson leads the USFL this year in passing yards with 2,433 yards.

The New Orleans defense is tops in the USFL allowing the least points scored against them. The Breakers' defense will need to bring their A-game this weekend because the Stallions' offense is the number-one scoring squad in the league.

The Breakers will have to rely heavily on the USFL's leading rusher Wes Hills and the rest of the running backs to control the clock and keep Birmingham's explosive offense off the field. The defense will also need to create points with turnovers to help supplement the struggling New Orleans offense.

You can cheer on the Breakers when they take on the Stallions this coming Sunday at 6:00pm on FOX or if you're in the mood for a road trip, you can purchase game tickets here.
