When you think about Lake Charles, one of the things that quickly comes to mind is the port. We have an inside look at what it's like to work on one of the huge tanker ships that come into the Port of Lake Charles.

The Port of Lake Charles was opened in 1924. It's the 12th busiest port in the USA and the 83rd busiest in the world.

I was at least 20 videos deep in a rabbit hole on YouTube the other night and came across this video of a guy from Texas that came over to work on a tanker ship in the Port of Lake Charles for two days.

I wanted to share it with you because, like many people here in SWLA, we never really see what goes on in the Port even though it's such a huge part of our city.

His job was to replace a satellite system on the ship and perform other routine checkups of multiple systems on the tanker ship.

The vessel he was working on had a crew from India. So he was able to eat Indian cuisine for lunch with the rest of the crew.

I've always wanted to try Indian food, but I've never taken the time to do it.  I think this guy may have just motivated me to actually go to a restaurant and finally give it a whirl. I hear Chicken Tikka Masala is amazing and I want to try a few different curries too.

Another thing about the video that I love is that he gives us a tour of the bridge of the ship.  You can see their navigation systems, radars, communications, the helm, and a look outside the bridge window overlooking the Port of Lake Charles.
