Louisiana law enforcement officers are working an active case involving a disturbing incident at a well known fast food chain. A Louisiana man is facing criminal charges after authorities say he exposed himself to an employee at a Sonic drive-in.

Police responded to reports of inappropriate sexual conduct directed at a staff member. Investigators say the male suspect allegedly pulled his vehicle into a restaurant stall, but when the employee came to his vehicle to assist, the suspect was found engaging in obscene behavior.

Louisiana Police Investigate Restaurant Incident

The incident occurred on September 22nd at a Sonic Drive In on Elton Road in Jennings. Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 4:40pm to speak with staff and witnesses. Officials state the man exposed himself to the victim, while engaged in "inappropriate conduct toward her", before fleeing the property.

The business and its employees fully cooperated with investigators, and provided crucial information to help identify the suspect. Detectives used video and photo evidence to create a physical description, and the vehicle license plate, to track the suspect.

Law enforcement launched a search to locate the suspect immediately. The cooperation and fast response helped secure the arrest.

Sonic Suspect Faces Obscenity Charges

Authorities identified the suspect as 39-year-old Mitchell Higginbotham of Lake Charles, and secured a warrant for his arrest. He was officially booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.

He currently faces charges of Obscenity and Driving Under Suspension. Police remind the public that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Under Louisiana law, Higginbotham currently faces severe penalties if found guilty on the charges of Obscenity. The charge is a felony, and defendants face a prison sentence of 6 months to 3 years...with or without hard labor. Along with potential fines that range from $1,000 to $25,000.
