For longtime Cowboys Nightclub customers, this story probably feels familiar.

Almost exactly one year after the legendary Acadiana country music venue held what was billed as its farewell, "The Last Ride," Cowboys is once again saying goodbye. This time, management is using language that leaves considerably less room for interpretation.

After a "For Lease" sign appeared outside the longtime nightclub at 207 N. Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Scott, questions and rumors quickly began circulating on social media.

Was Cowboys closing again? Was another operator taking over? Was this simply another transition?

Cowboys has now addressed those questions, confirming that the building is officially available for lease and that after one final Friday night of live music, the current chapter of Cowboys is coming to an end.

Cowboys Says ‘This Time It Truly Is Goodbye’

In a statement shared on social media, Cowboys acknowledged the speculation surrounding the sign and confirmed the property is officially up for lease.

The nightclub says Thomas Cain will still take the stage Friday night as scheduled. After that performance, however, Cowboys says it will no longer host live bands.

"This time it truly is goodbye," the venue said in its announcement.

Cowboys thanked the bands, customers and generations of people who have spent nights dancing, listening to live music and making memories inside the venue.

The announcement is significant because Cowboys has technically said goodbye before.

Cowboys Held Its ‘Last Ride’ Almost Exactly One Year Ago

On July 26, 2025, Cowboys held "The Last Ride" after announcing the end of live music at the venue following 45 years in Acadiana. At the time, the nightclub portion of the business went dark, while the adjacent Western Store and Cowboys Saloon remained open.

Plans eventually emerged to renovate the nightclub and bring entertainment back to the property.

That's why the appearance of a new "For Lease" sign immediately created some confusion. After last year's farewell and subsequent attempts to breathe new life into the venue, some wondered whether this was another temporary pause.

For now, the nightclub's own announcement appears to answer that question. Whatever happens to the property next, Cowboys as customers currently know it is closing this chapter.

Iconic Cowboys Nightclub Building Is Officially For Lease

The commercial listing confirms the property at 207 N. Ambassador Caffery Parkway is actively available for lease.

The approximately 6,800-square-foot venue is being marketed as a turnkey opportunity for a new operator, complete with a performance stage, two walk-in coolers, four restrooms and ample parking. The listing specifically pitches the property for potential use as a nightclub, country dance hall, live music venue, private event center or restaurant.

The asking lease price is listed at $6,500 per month, with the property available beginning July 31, according to the listing.

The listing even highlights something that would be difficult for another Acadiana property to duplicate: more than four decades of name recognition as an entertainment destination.

Could Cowboys Eventually Return Under New Ownership?

That is where things get a little less clear.

Some social media posts have circulated claiming Cowboys is not actually shutting down permanently and could eventually reopen under new ownership.

That is certainly possible. In fact, the real estate listing makes clear that the property is being offered to a future operator who could continue using it as an entertainment venue.

But there is an important distinction between the building eventually reopening and the current Cowboys operation continuing.

As of now, Cowboys itself says Friday will be its final night hosting live bands and describes the moment as a true goodbye.

Until a new owner or operator officially announces plans for the property, anything beyond that remains speculation.

What Happens Next At Cowboys In Scott?

That may ultimately become the more interesting question.

The building is renovated, equipped for entertainment and sitting at a location that generations of Acadiana residents immediately recognize. The listing is clearly aimed at finding someone interested in giving the property another life.

Maybe someone brings Cowboys back. Maybe a new country bar takes over. Maybe the building becomes a completely different live music venue, restaurant or event space.

For now, though, another Friday night at Cowboys is being billed as the last one.

And almost exactly one year after Acadiana thought it had already watched "The Last Ride," it appears Cowboys as we know it is finally riding off into the sunset.

Whatever eventually replaces it, more than four decades of memories inside that building will be difficult to replace.
