There have already been tons of stories and theories surrounding the events that led to the tragic death of The Notorious B.I.G. in 1997, but one person that reportedly tried to prevent it from happening was J. Prince. The Rap-A-Lot music executive claims in his upcoming book, The Art and Science of Respect, that he met with the late rapper just weeks before his death to encourage him to leave Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, Prince claims in the book that he went to meet with Biggie and Diddy on set of the "Hypnotize" music video in February 1997, where he expressed his concerns over their safety. If you recall, at the time, there were many false rumors brewing at the time that Big and Puff has involvement in Tupac's murder six months prior, which led to talks of a revenge hit being planned on them. While Prince claims he didn't know anything specific about the revenge hit, the buzz of threats against the Ready to Die MC initiated him to rush over to the video set to warn him and Puff and urge them to go back to the East Coast.

The executive also grew even more concerned during his visit after he reportedly felt a relaxed attitude coming from security on set of the music video, but unfortunately, what he expressed didn't seem to get through to Biggie, who was tragically shot down in a drive-by shooting outside of L.A.'s Petersen Automotive Museum on March 9.

James Prince's The Art and Science of Respect is slated for public release on June 22, which was also co-written by Jasmine D. Waters. You can order the book when it becomes available here.
