There’s no question that Janelle Monae’s latest album, 'Electric Lady,' is one of the most vibrant R&B albums of 2013. The Grammy-nominated singer made her 'Saturday Night Live’ debut over the weekend and much like her album, gave an electrifying performance.

For her first set, Monae performed 'Dance Apocalyptic,' the latest single from her album. Dressed in all white with suspenders and equestrian boots, she did the jive and the two-step effortlessly across the stage.

For her second energetic set, Monae, dressed in all-black, performed the more subdued track, 'Electric Lady.' Backed by her stylish band and fabulous horn section, the R&B songbird rocked the two step again and even did the moonwalk while holding on to the microphone stand.

The only downside is that Solange, who is featured on 'Electric Lady,' didn’t join her. But, in reality, she wasn’t needed. Her background singers aided Monae in some synchronized dance moves while singing the infectious chorus.

Overall, Janelle Monae showcased enough energy to not only light up the 'SNL' stage but the whole metropolis of New York.
