DMX is once again facing jail time, but now, the veteran rapper has former NBA superstar Jayson Williams on his side.

According to Williams, DMX needs rehab for his substance abuse problems, not a jail sentence. The former New Jersey Nets player has offered the rapper a spot in his Rebound Institute in Florida—a faith-based addiction and wellness program.

While X is facing five years in prison for failing to pay millions in taxes, Williams believes the rapper's tax troubles stem for his substance abuse. "He wasn't evading taxes on purpose," Williams told TMZ. "When you're in a self destruct mode, you're not going, 'I'm gonna pay my taxes tomorrow.' You're going, 'Hey man, I'm not even going to live. My self-esteem is low. I gotta take myself outta here.'"

DMX had previously filed documents on Monday (March 26), asking a judge if he could be allowed into Williams' program. According to the documents, the rehab program last for a minimum of 45 days and includes drug testing three days a week.

Williams says he has been in contact with X's team and has "put together a plan where he's gonna come down here and work real hard and get himself together." The former NBA star added, "That's where we're at right now. We're dealing with a sick individual."

But should DMX be allowed to join the program and fails, Williams says jail would be his next option. "You can always come back and put him in jail if he doesn't do the right thing."

A judge is expected to make a decision in DMX's case later today (March 28).
