Joyner Lucas Refuses to Talk to Tomi Lahren
After Lahren contacted him to discuss the bars about her in his song "Devil's Work," Lucas has basically rejected her offer. In an Instagram story posted last night (May 14), Lucas goes into detail about why he turned down a seemingly neutral conversation with the Fox News commentator.
"I created "I'm Not Racist" so we can have conversations that need to be had and get a level of understanding of each other," Lucas wrote in his IG Story. "But... speaking to Tomi wouldn't be productive because she's already talked to countless rappers about their views and feelings and all she did was shit on them. I'm setting myself up for failure if I have that conversation. She isn't rational or understanding on any level. Her aim is to make us look crazy on national television. I'm not doing it ♀️ sorry not sorry."
The video for Lucas' "Devil's Work" features a slew of controversial figures that the rapper would trade for the lives of fallen friends and fellow MC's like Nipsey Hussle and XXXTentacion. Deep into the video, Lahren's photo can be seen in a frame in front of a casket as Lucas suggests her life should be traded for a real one who deserves the blessings. Clearly triggered, Lahren fired back and called it "truly disgusting."
"You don't have to like me or respect me but this is too far," Lahren wrote on Twitter on May 4. "This isn't 'art' it's sick."
Lucas has a point about Lahren's sour relationship with hip-hop in general. Within the last three months, the Republican pundit has engaged in debates with rappers like Cardi B, The Game, Nicki Minaj, Wale and others. She also drew the ire of many when she mocked 21 Savage when he was arrested by the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement in February.
