One thing I love is great music and seeing a young artist that has the momentum to really make some things happen is even better. Lake Charles is full of great talent from Hip Hop to Zydeco and R&B. This past weekend I had a chance to visit one of my favorite spots Meeks, and also see the next phenomenon that will be representing for the city.

His name is Yola Joseph and when I tell you that he has something for everyone. Trust me he is going to be the new wave of R&B, and with the help of people like Fat Chino, Mr. Chris, and others, he's going to be someone you'll want to add to your playlist for years to come. His first single is Follow My Lead, where he talks about the struggle some men have to deal with daily, and wanting to have a little peace at home. When I first heard the song, I knew that it would be something that would resonate with many couples, whether you've been together for years, or just beginning to date. He is also sitting on a Southern Soul classic that could potentially be in the running to sit with classics like Hole in the wall and Slow Roll It. He's got production from Platinum producer Mr. Phat, who's worked with everyone from Cupid to Vicious.

This past Saturday I was invited to a album listening/performance event, there were plenty celebrities in the building, as well as a special moment where Yola's mother came. When I saw him singing to his mother, that moment brought emotions as I lost my mother back in January. Every son wants to be able to place a smile on their mothers face, and Yola wa able to make that happen this past weekend.
