Lake Charles Poised To Make History In City Marshall Runoff
On November 4 Nate Keller beat his opponent for Ward 3 City Marshal, Jerod Abshire, with 43% of the vote. The 30-year law enforcement veteran captured 8,000 more votes than Abshire, who brings 17 years of combined military and law enforcement experience to the game. Unfortunately, neither one of them reached the 50% of the vote needed to avoid a runoff.
The Lake Charles Ward 3 City Marshal Runoff Election takes place on December 5, as voters head back to the polls to decide who gets the win. If Keller reigns supreme, he will make history by becoming the very first African American City Marshall in Lake Charles. On the other hand, Abshire supporters believe his sense of community and good character make him the best man for the job. Below, see what sets the men apart.
Their fates lie in the hands of the voters on December 5 from 7:00am - 8:00pm. Keep in mind, many polling precincts have been relocated due to widespread hurricane damage.
