Lil Wayne Claims Universal Conspired With Cash Money to Screw Him Out of Millions

The saga of Lil Wayne versus Birdman, the man he once called a father figure, continues. According to TMZ, Weezy's lawyer Howard King filed documents alleging that Baby and Cash Money's parent company Universal Music Group both conspired to cheat him out of millions of dollars.

King claims Birdman and UMG backdated a deal to make it appear that Weezy had signed it before the deal with Young Money—a label Weezy famously founded under the Cash Money/UMG umbrella—had run its course. The documents, which were obtained by TMZ, allegedly claim UMG knew they could cheat Tunechi out of large profits by backdating the deals in question. Yikes.

Of course, this isn't the first chapter of Weezy's beef with Universal. A little over a year ago, the Young Money boss sued the company for giving Cash Money a $100 million advance without giving him his cut. We also know Weezy sued Birdman for $51 million after alleging the Cash Money co-founder had violated the terms of their deal.

A few months back, Rick Ross used his song "Idols Become Rivals" to diss Birdman over his purported mistreatment of artists like Lil Wayne and former Cash Money Records signee DJ Khaled. How'd Birdman respond to that?

“I don't get caught up in hoe shit, man," Birdman told Billboard at the time. "I just keep doing what I’m doing and keep pushing. I don’t get caught up in that, I don’t play like that. I’m a man and I stand my ground and I do my thing. Numbers don’t lie, and that’s all I give a fuck about: numbers, and puttin’ them up.”

While we aren't too familiar with the many intricacies of Birdman's business practices, he did offer a bit of insight into how he views his artists and contracts in a seminar from a while back. In the video, he explains that he believes contracts are malleable. "Any contract could be re-contracted," he says in the clip. "I swear to God, every muthafuckin' deal I do, bitch we about to redo this in the morning."
