Local Cheerleader Trades In Blue & Gold For Black & Gold
Congrats to Sulphur native Jordyn Knighton! She just landed a job most college cheerleaders only dream of. The 2022 graduate and former McNeese cheerleader, is moving on to the big time, to cheer in Big Easy for the New Orleans Saints!
It doesn't get too much better than that. Knighton is a lifelong resident of SWLA and dedicated most of her life to gymnastics and cheer. She started gymnastics as a child and began cheering at Sulphur High during her sophomore year. Jordyn attended McNeese State University where her cheering skills continued to flourish, ultimately leading to her becoming Captain of the squad.
Now that she has graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English education, the former MSU Cowgirl is switching up her team colors. Jordyn is preparing for the biggest moment of her life as the 2022-23 NFL is about to get underway. She is headed to Nola to begin a professional cheerleader career cheering for the New Orleans Saints! Knighton was overjoyed with her exciting news she told KPLC,
“I have already made lifelong friends throughout this process and I cannot believe that I get the opportunity to be an NFL Cheerleader! This is so surreal and I can’t wait to cheer in the Dome!”
Congratulations Jordyn on becoming the newest member of the 2022 Saints Cheer Krewe! We will cheer you and the Saints in the coming weeks. We wish you the very best today and in your future professional cheer endeavors. Go, Saints!
