Eighteen of Louisiana's State Parks have reopened to the public. The office of state parks released a statement letting residents know about some positive changes they can expect.

Many of these parks have taken advantage of the closure to make necessary repairs and to add some new upgrades. Louisiana residents can start making reservations at these eighteen parks now. However, out-of-state visitors will not be allowed back until May 29. If you are booking a four night stay, you can receive a special discount that will only charge you for three nights. The promo code, WELCOMEBACK, will be available at checkout up to September 7. State historic parks will be offering tours but will only allow groups of ten to be compliant with CDC guidelines.

All of the parks will be disinfected for visitors. Park employees who will be interacting with the public will wear masks and gloves. Proper hygiene will be mandated by washing hands and using sanitizer. Additional practices will include disinfecting and cleaning areas of the park for the next visitors.

Bouge Chitto State Park and Palmetto Island State Park will be opening their campsites that have been closed. Bouge Chitto will reopen ten of their campsites and Palmetto Island has added sewage hookups to twelve of their campsites, bringing their premium campsites to twenty.

Any park that was used for additional isolation areas for patients will remain closed. Chicot State Park in Ville Platte, Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline, and Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, will need to be properly decontaminated before they open to the public.
