Postponed LSU-Florida Game Rescheduled For Nov. 19 In Baton Rouge
After much backlash over the decision, the Presidents and Chancellors say a revision is in order to make sure this type of situation doesn't arise moving forward. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey explained,
It was important for us to come to a resolution. Each university had its own set of concerns throughout this process, however existing SEC regulations did not provide an avenue to resolve conflicting issues in a more timely manner. As I have repeatedly said, this game needed to be played. In the end, I want to give credit to the University of Florida for making concessions to move this year's game to Baton Rouge.
As part of the agreement to play, both schools will have to buy out their non-conference games that were originally scheduled for the November 19 date. LSU was set to host South Alabama while Florida was hosting Presbyterian.
In addition to buying out the games,
LSU has also agreed to play the 2017 in Gainesville, which was originally scheduled to be played in Baton Rouge. LSU will return to Gainesville in 2018 as the normal schedule rotation resumes.
Sankey also thanked Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson and Presbyterian for their understanding and help in the situation.
With that said—November 19. Tiger Stadium. 'Game on.'
