Rick Ross Unveils Trailer for ‘Port of Miami 2: Born to Kill’ Album
Rick Ross' eagerly awaited follow-up to Port of Miami could be incoming. Today (March 23), the rapper unveiled an ultra-cinematic trailer for Port of Miami 2: Born to Kill, the follow-up to his 2006 effort.
Rozay's new trailer carries with it a reflective vibe, and that makes a lot of sense; a lot has happened since the rapper's last album. Obviously, Meek Mill's been sentenced to at least two years in prison, though he could be home much sooner than that. Ross suffered a pretty alarming health scare a few weeks ago when he was discovered coughing up blood and dealing with sickness in his home.
The visual is black and white and looks like it's actually bits and pieces of a documentary. In the beginning, we see Rozay boarding what looks like a private jet as he prepares to travel. Shortly afterwards, we're taken to his spacious mansion. In an extremely curious note, we also see DJ Khaled, a longtime friend of Rozays, pull up to what looks like a funeral/memorial for Maybach Music Group. We can see the MMG insignia encircled in a memorial wreathe. What's that all about?
Given Meek's legal situation, and Rozay's own relocation to Epic Records, it could be the Florida native's way of acknowledging that MMG as the world knew it at its peak is clearly no more—or he's just alluding to people possibly seeing it that way. Either way, really interesting stuff.
Port of Miami 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but the trailer says its coming soon. Check out the trailer for the album below, and listen to Rozay's Kodak Black and T-Pain-assisted cut, "Florida Boy," when you're done with that.
