
Lake Charles Man Arrested for Counterfeit Money
Lake Charles, La. - On February 22, 2018, detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office investigated an incident involving counterfeit money at a local restaurant on Enterprise Boulevard after the owner contacted them and informed them a former employee attempted to exchange a $100 counterfeit bill for U.S. currency.
37-year-old Michael J. Darjean of Lake Charles was "detained by deputies as he was leaving the property and found in possession of U.S. currency from the transaction, as well as, a $100 counterfeit bill", said a media release.
Darjean was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on the charge of "monetary instrument abuse", but was released on a $2,000 bond on Wednesday, March 15. The $100 was reportedly returned to the owner of the restaurant.
