Scarface is undoubtedly a Houston legend when it comes to hip-hop, having spent 30 years in the game and being respect as one of the best to ever do it. Now, the Geto Boy is being recognized by his hometown and honored with his own day.

On June 26, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Councilman Dwight Boykins declared the day Scarface Day during a ceremony that was attended by the rapper's mother, city  council members and members of the NAACP.

The Deeply Rooted rapper seemed genuinely bashful as his career was recalled during the event. He later took the mic and offered some words about his positive plans for the city. "You know me as Scarface, but now you get the opportunity to meet Brad Jordan," he told those in attendance. "I've done a lot of music, you know. I've done a lot of speaking of social ... words that take place in our community. That Scarface has turned into Brad Jordan. I really want to let y'all know that I'm getting ready to make a super impact in the community because that's the most important thing to me right now."

He added, "That's my passion. To make sure everybody is treated equally. To make sure we get equal justice. To make sure that everybody is on the same level playing field."

Texas has seemed all about showing love to their big rap artists recently. In December, Trae Tha Truth was bestowed with the key to the city of Houston. In February, Travis Scott was presented with the key to his hometown of Missouri City, Texas.
